Here's what Alia Bhatt has to say on Bihari girl's open letter

This seems to be the star's answer to questions about the way she has portrayed a Bihari girl in her upcoming film, 'Udta Punjab'. After the trailer was launched over the weekend, a Bihari girl sent her an open letter about how her character stereotyped Biharis.

The letter, which went viral on the net, states that her treatment of the character is nothing, but a concoction of stereotypes. The actress has said that she has spoken in Bihari but the letter writer points out that people in Bihar converse in Maithili, Bhojpuri, Maghai or Angika.

They don't speak in 'Bihari'; people are referred to as Biharis, and not their language. The letter also points out that 'Ee', 'Ka', 'Kon', is not the 'Bihari' language either. It's just lazy stereotyping, something Bollywood has always excelled at. Alia's Bihari look of soiled, tattered clothes, grimy skin and messed up hair was also criticised as they showed Biharis as poor and in bad light.

प्रत्यूषा बनर्जी की मौत का राज़ खोलेगी ये फिल्म

बालिका वधू फेम प्रत्यूषा बनर्जी के सुसाइद को अभी बस कुछ ही दिन हुए हैं लेकिन हर दिन के साथ प्रत्यूषा की मौत का राज और गहरा होता जा रहा है। बायोपिक की इस दौर में अब प्रत्यूषा की जिंदगी पर फिल्म बनने जा रही है। फिल्म का नाम, हीरोइन सब कुछ तय हो चुका है। फिल्म की शूटिंग अगले महीने से शुरू हो जाएगी। प्रत्यूषा की जिंदगी पर बन रही इस फिल्म का नाम 'हर पल है यहां धोखा' रखा गया है।

कौन थी प्रत्यूषा, क्यों किया सुसाइड

टीवी एक्ट्रेस प्रत्यूषा बनर्जी ने 1 अप्रैल को अपने घर में फांसी लगाकर सुसाइड अटेम्पट किया। प्रत्यूषा की मौत का कारण उनके ब्वॉयफ्रेंड राहुल राज़ सिंह को ठहराया जा रहा है। प्रत्यूषा के माता- पिता और करीबी दोस्तों ने राहुल पर प्रत्यूषा को सुसाइड करने के लिए उकसाने और धोखा देने का आरोप लगाया है।

प्रत्यूषा की मौत के बाद अवसाद के चलते राहुल को तीन अप्रैल को श्री सांई अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था जहां उनका मनोचिकित्सक की निगरानी में इलाज चल रहा था। लेकिन अब उन्हें अस्पताल से छुट्टी मिल गई है।

दोपहर में राहुल वापस अस्पताल लौट आए और फिर कुछ समय बाद ही खुद को एक बाथरूम में बंद कर लिया। उनके रिश्तेदार कुछ देर तक उनका इंतजार करते रहे और जब वो बाहर नहीं आए तो परेशान होकर उन्हें समझाने के लिए डॉक्टर्स को भेजा। इस दौरान ही राहुल ने अस्पताल की इमारत से कूदने की धमकी दी। हालांकि कुछ ही देर बाद राहुल बाहर आ गए। इस बीच, प्रत्यूषा के पिता शंकर ने इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसिएशन को चिट्ठी लिखकर अपील की है कि अस्पताल के निदेशक के खिलाफ जांच हो और कार्रवाई की जाए। उनका आरोप है कि राहुल पुलिस कार्रवाई से बचने के लिए बीमारी का बहाना बनाकर अस्पताल में भर्ती हो गया। अस्पताल प्रबंधन ने भी इसमें मदद की।

Preity Zinta acquitted in cheque bouncing case

A metropolitan magistrate's court here today acquitted Bollywood actress Preity Zinta in a cheque bouncing case filed by a script writer.

"Zinta was acquitted in the case filed by script writer Abbas Tyrewala," said her lawyer Hitesh Jain.

Tyrewala, who wrote the script for Zinta's film `Ishkq In Paris', had filed a complaint with a magistrate saying a a remuneration cheque of Rs 18.9 lakh given by her had bounced.

Jain said he argued in the court that Zinta gave the cheque to Tyrewala on the undertaking that he would not deposit it without informing her, a contention which was accepted by the magistrate, who acquitted her.


The complaint had been filed in 2013.

“My grandma commands attention wherever she goes, even on a film set! I wanna grow up to be like her!” Priyanka wrote on Twitter on Thursday along with a photograph of her sitting next to her grandmother.

In the photograph, Priyanka can be seen wearing the khakhi and it’s apparent that it was from the shoot of Prakash Jha’s “Jai Gangaajal“, where the actress is playing the role of a police officer named Abha Mathur.
